Kostas (Gus) and Katerina (Catherine), called me up and asked if I could shoot their wedding on Folegandros island. Although I had been many times in Folegandros as a tourist, this was the first time traveling as a wedding photographer and I was very excited. This breath taking location was perfect for the outdoor loving couple they are. Plus, it was a mini vacation for the couple, escaping from the crowded big city of Thessaloniki.
We first met in Santorini, a few days before their wedding. I picked them up from the airport and got lunch together discussing what styles and poses they like. After a small tour around Santorini, I drop them off at the port to take the ferry to Folegandros. The next day I got my photography equipment, a bridal bouquet (there are no florists and no photographers in Folegandros) and traveled to the nearby island to shoot their wedding. Folegandros is very close to Santorini, just a couple of hours by ferry.
The ceremony took place in the church of Panagia Pantanassa (Most-Holy Queen of All), an old church built in 1600 A.D. in Chora, the capital of the island.

Ο Κώστας και η Κατερίνα μου τηλεφώνησαν από τη Θεσσαλονίκη και ζήτησαν να φωτογραφίσω το γάμο τους στη Φολέγανδρο. Ήθελαν να προσλάβουν ένα φωτογράφο που έμενε Κυκλάδες και θα ήξερε καλά το νησί. Αμέσως δέχθηκα με ενθουσιασμό την πρότασή τους, καθώς ήταν η πρώτη φορά που θα φωτογράφιζα γάμο στη Φολέγανδρο, αν και στο παρελθόν είχα επισκεφτεί το νησί πολλές φορές για τουρισμό και είχα εξερευνήσει κάθε του σπιθαμή.
Η πρώτη μας συνάντηση έγινε στη Σαντορίνη, λίγες μέρες πριν το γάμο τους. Τους παρέλαβα από το αεροδρόμιο και κάτσαμε σε ένα παραθαλάσσιο εστιατόριο για φαγητό. Εκεί συζητήσαμε με λεπτομέρειες τι είδους φωτογραφίες θα ήθελαν να τραβήξω στο γάμο τους. Στη συνέχεια κάναμε μια βόλτα στη Σαντορίνη και τους άφησα στο λιμάνι για να πάρουν το πλοίο για τη Φολέγανδρο. Την επόμενη μέρα, φόρτωσα το φωτογραφικό εξοπλισμό μου και ένα μπουκέτο λουλούδια (στη Φολέγανδρο δεν υπάρχει ανθοπωλείο, ούτε φωτογράφος) και πήρα κι εγώ το πλοίο για τη Φολέγανδρο. Σε μόλις 2 ωρίτσες ήμουν εκεί.
Η τελετή έγινε στον ιερό ναό της Παναγίας Παντάνάσσας, μια ορθόδοξη εκκλησία χτισμένη το 1600 μ.Χ. στη Χώρα της Φολεγάνδρου.
