Do you retouch photos?
Yes, we retouch them when it is called for or if we want to create an artistic enhancement (ie. convert to Black / White, colorize, add a filter, or vignette to the image).
Some of your photos have very bright, vibrant colors, almost painterly; why is that?
We employ HDR (High Dynamic Range) imaging. These are a set of techniques that allows for a greater dynamic range of exposures. The camera can only detect a limited range of exposures, but when we use HDR, we can, in some instances, more accurately represent the wide range of intensity levels found in real scenes.
A good deal of HDR photography uses several images combined, but most of our HDR imaging comes from only a single RAW image file.
Best time for the ceremony?
It is a good idea to start your ceremony at least 1 hour before sunset. A sunset calculator can be found here.
RAW or JPEG? How many megapixels?
RAW. We shoot every wedding in RAW. Any photographer who tells you they can get the highest quality photos possible with JPEG is probably fibbing. More info about the RAW vs JPEG debate here. The cameras we use produce files that are between 14-21 megapixels.
How much time will you spend at my wedding?
That’s entirely up to you. We want our coverage of your day to reflect your needs so we can start from when you are at home getting dressed and end when your reception is over or just cover the ceremony. We will photograph all the family and guests of the wedding, the details, the flowers, groups shots, posed shots, ceremony, confetti and anything else you might do! We will be happy to discuss this with you when we are going over the details of your marriage.
How many pictures do you take?
We never put a limit on the number of photos we take. We will take as many photos as are needed to capture your special day in the best way. We never charge you based on how many pictures we take and this policy holds for all of our packages, from the cheapest to the most expensive.
Will I be given all of my photos or just a certain number to choose from?
You will receive all of your pictures.
Can we request a list of shots for you to take?
While you want your photographer to use his or her professional eye, this is still your marriage.
Do you have references from other weddings you’ve done?
A truly professional photographer is proud of his or her work and uses customer testimonials to give credibility to his or her business. We would be happy to share them with you. Just call or email us and we will send you the info and answer any other questions you may have about our photography services.
Are you a member or SWPP or any other society like that?
No. Simply because we don’t feel we need to pay to get qualifications. It doesn’t prove how good you are as a photographer. It just shows you are willing to pay money to have letters next to your name and the odd occasional ‘bronze award’ for an image.
We allow clients to ask us any questions and view all of our images. We let you decide what you think about our work.
Do you turn up with a horde of assistants?
No, generally it’s just one of us. Unless you want another shooter, we can provide two photographer teams which works well for large weddings or in cases where things are happening at two different locations at the same time.
Are you insured?
Yes we have full public liability and indemnity insurance with a specialized photographers insurance company.
How do you dress for the wedding?
We usually dress casually but we maintain a clean and professional appearance. The reason for this casual dress code is comfort and foremost agility. Most of the times we wear basic black dress pants with a black or white shirt and comfortable black shoes. If you would like us to wear a more formal attire to your special event, please let us know in advance and we will accommodate accordingly.
What if I lose my pictures or misplace them, can I get copies?
Of course you will never have to worry about the safety of the pictures with our photography company . Our digital cameras use a redundant backup system for file capture. This means each picture is stored on two separate mediums at the same time as the picture is taken. After the event, pictures are copied to two more separate locations for safety. One of those is on a long term disc for storage. The other is a secure backup drive ,which is housed in a different location, away from the photography studio in a safety deposit box. Should you lose your files from a computer malfunction, it’s not a problem, since our policy is to keep the pictures for 5 years for each client.
Do you have experience shooting different kinds of religious ceremonies?
Yes. We have photographed many different kinds of services, such as Christian, Jewish, Muslim and mixed denomination.
